Where Does Drupal 7 Fit?

Drupal 9 is the future of Drupal. No doubt. It's awesome.

Drupal 8 site owners are busy upgrading to Drupal 9!

Drupal 6 is still a reality for a large number of critical websites.

In fact, at myDropWizard, we spent a lot of time focusing on Drupal 6 over the years. 32,000 Drupal 6 sites is not an insignificant number, and many of them contract for suport with us.

Like you, we've also spent a lot of time thinking about the future of Drupal. With recent news that Drupal 7 will receive community support even longer than Drupal 8, it's crystal clear that Drupal 7 is the mainstream version of Drupal.

Drupal 7 Forever?

According to, there are:

  • 32,537 Drupal 6 sites
  • 346,264 Drupal 8 sites
  • 51,328 Drupal 9 sites
  • 707,534 Drupal 7 sites in production!

SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND Drupal 7 websites. That number has trended down a bit as you can see, but it has been holding remarkably steady at more than double the installed base of Drupal 8 and 13x more than the users of Drupal 9. Amazing!

Obviously, we have to have a solution for the great majority of Drupalers using Drupal 7.

We Love All That Is Drupal!

Drupal 6 site owners are covered for a LONG time!

Obviously we support users who have newest versions of Drupal! Our main business is support of Drupal websites!

So, what about the mainstrean Drupal? The Drupal 7 websites that seldom get discussed anymore? This is the vast majority of Drupal websites. Of course we offer fantastic service for Drupal 7!

What We Offer to Drupal 7 Site Owners

I think that it's time more Drupal 7 website operators should and will look to outsource their Drupal Support & Maintenance to myDropWizard. Here's a little more information about what we offer.

Our Basic Plan allows you to get automatic updates for $99/month. You get security updates installed on the same day they are released! I don't know if you've spent much time with Drupal 7, but staying on top of updates and making sure they don't break other parts of your site, that could easily cost you 3-5x that depending on the number and scope of the security updates that month.

That's aside from the peace of mind. When I used to operate dozens of Drupal 7 websites, I would have jumped at the chance to have a service like this. It gets even better though.

Our Standard Plan - which is what most of our clients actually do sign-up for - includes all those security updates as well as an UNLIMITED number of support requests. I know, I know, when I hear about "Verizon's new unlimited" or "AT&T's unlimited", I know there is a catch. There's no catch here. Drupal site updates that a "Drupal Expert can complete in an hour or less": you get an unlimited number of those requests.

Things that are common support requests:

  • updating a Drupal View
  • updating non-security modules
  • adding a module
  • fixing small bugs
  • or even adding a simple landing page

Our Standard Plan is only $499/mo.

We are so sure of our services that you can cancel at any time!

I'm telling you this because I think our Drupal 7 services are even more impressive than our Drupal 6 services. Drupal 7 sites tend to be just a little more complex on average. Also, by nature of them being newer, they are often even more mission critical and are frequently actively updated.

What's the first step?

We give you a free, no-risk, no-commitment site audit. With the site audit, we address security concerns and evaluate some Drupal best-practices. When we onboard your site, we take care of any issues we find automatically!

Whether you are contemplating your Drupal 9+ plans, thinking of abandoning Drupal for something else, or simply want to see how this can cut your costs (and stress), I would love to talk to you about how we can help you with Drupal 7.

Contact us about getting that free site audit right now!
